Amanda Steinhorn, LCPC, ATR-BC

Amanda is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Master’s Level Art Therapist. Amanda has experience in the field of family counseling and addiction treatment but specializes in working with children and adolescents. She has been working in the field of special education for over a decade.


After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Towson University, she worked at The Forbush School (Sheppard Pratt) as a Teacher’s Assistant. It was there that Amanda’s developed a passion for working with children with developmental disabilities. Amanda then earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She spent her clinical internships working with adults with developmental disabilities and children with behavioral and emotional disorders. 


Amanda began working at the Kennedy Krieger School in 2007. She has expertise in addressing the unique, educational and therapeutic needs of children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Behavioral and Emotional Disorders, Learning Disabilities, etc. Amanda also has experience developing and implementing Individualized Educational Plans (IEP). She provides direct individual and group counseling sessions using a combination of art therapy, play therapy and other multi-modality treatments to fit the individualized needs of her students.  Amanda works closely with families and outside providers to support a positive and collaborative learning environment. She has training in Positive Behavior Interventions and Professional Crisis Management. Amanda utilizes an array of creative therapeutic strategies that best fit the needs of her clients.
