Michael Lockman, LCPC

Michael Lockman received a Master's degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University of Maryland in 2013. Since then, Michael has worked in various outpatient settings, including mental health clinics, adult day care centers, and soup kitchens.

While Michael specializes in working with adult clients, he also has experience in working with children and with families.  Michael focuses his efforts on addressing the psychological issues of grief and loss, mood disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder, and anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Agoraphobia.  Michael also has experience in working with geriatric clients in addressing issues of advancing age.

Michael is an eclectic therapist, and uses the modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Client-Centered Therapy, among others.  Michael also believes strongly that spirituality and spiritual issues such as consolation from grief, forgiveness, and faith are extremely important to healing and to human actualization.  Michael recognizes, however, that spirituality does not need to be an explicit part of therapy in order to make counseling effective.

Michael lives in Baltimore with his wife and two sons.
