Michelle Chaney LCPC

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology from State University of New York in 2005, obtained her Master Arts degree in Human Sciences at Hood College in 2010 and Post Master Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2014.  She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland.


Her approach to therapy is Humanistic with a Psychodynamic emphasis. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Adlerian and Reality Therapies to support growing, changing and learning to live life with grace while embracing adversities. Michelle believes a holistic approach encourages safety and trust that can start the healing process.   


Her areas of specialty are individual and couples counseling, young adults in transition, challenges of parenting, adolescent and children issues (ADHD, at risk-youth), mood disorders such as depression, anxiety and personality disorders.  Other areas of practice include grief, mother and daughter problems, survivors of intimate partner violence, managing intense emotional states, aging and autism. 


Michelle is also a certified Addiction Counselor with over a decade of experience in opiate addiction treatment. Currently, she is working towards a certification in trauma.
